General Manager of Astana Pro Team, Alexandr Vinokurov is the most famous and successful cyclist in the history of Kazakhstan and one of the greatest sportsman ever in his country. In his long career, he has won very important races as: the Vuelta a España, the Tour of Switzerland, two Liège-Bastogne-Liège and one edition of the Amstel Gold Race, as well as the gold medal in the Olympic Road Race in London 2012, the silver medal at the Games in Sydney 2000 and two bronze medals at the UCI Road World Championships. Turned pro in 1998, he raced for several International teams such as French team Casino, German team Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile Team since 2004) and, since 2006, for Astana Pro Team. In the jersey of Astana, Vinokurov won the Giro del Trentino, a stage at the Tour de France and repeated his success at Liège-Bastogne-Liège. After winning the gold medal at the London’s Olympics, he retired from competition to take up the role of general manager of Astana Pro Team.
