He can be considered “the doyen” among the Italian sport directors, with more than 30-years career at the helm of a Team. Professional cyclist from 1977 to 1985, silver medal in the road race at the Olympics in Montreal in 1976, he began his work as a sporting director in 1986. He won all the major races on the International calendar, including all the three Grand Tours and the most important Classics, for a total of more than 600 races won. He has led several generations of cyclists and many champions, one for all Marco Pantani. He works for the Astana Pro Team since 2010.
