Giro d’Italia. Stage 1. Solid 6th place for Pello Bilbao in Jerusalem

Astana’s Pello Bilbao made a very impressive result in today’s opening stage 1 in Jerusalem. Bilbao did a strong individual time trial of 9,7 km, finishing with provisional second best time, just 16 seconds behind the Australian Rohan Dennis, the leader of that moment. Finally, Astana’s rider took a solid 6th place in the stage, 18 seconds far from the last year’s pink jersey and today stage winner Tom Dumoulin, who passed the distance in 12 minutes and 2 seconds.

Tour de Yorkshire. Top 10 for Riccardo Minali at Stage 1

A surprise on the first day of Tour de Yorkshire, as the day’s breakaway made it to the finish line before the expected bunch sprint. Behind the 5 riders of the breakaway, with Harry Tanfield as the winner of Stage 1, Riccardo Minali sprinted to a 10^thplace.

Interview point: Miguel Angel Lopez on his form before the Giro

To his 24 years Miguel Angel Lopez has already a number of very good achievements. This year the Colombian leader of Astana Pro Team step by step is approaching to his big goal – the Giro d’Italia: in February Lopez won a stage and took a second place in the overall of the Tour of Oman, later, he was third in the general classification of the Abu Dhabi Tour. Two weeks ago Miguel Angel won a nice stage and became third in the GC of the Tour of the Alps. Before the Big Start in Jerusalem, Miguel Angel Lopez is one of the GC favorites of the Giro d’Italia, the first ever Giro in his career.

Interview point: Alexey Lutsenko on his debut at the Giro d'Italia

One of Astana Pro Team leaders, the Kazakh rider Alexey Lutsenko is preparing to debut at the famous Giro d’Italia. Lutsenko has a good experience on the Grand tours since he already did the Tour de France for three times and the Vuelta a España twice. But, the Italian Grand tour will be his first. Alexey will make his debut at the Giro in Jerusalem, Israel, where the first three stages of the Italian race will be held as part of the historic Big Start.
