For many riders of Astana Proteam today’s race was the very first test before the third Grand tour of the season – the Vuelta a España.
- For the most part of our team it was the first race after a quite long time: someone came back after the Giro, someone just finished his training camp on the altitude. For us it was a good test for the Vuelta a Burgos and, of course, the Vuelta a España. The race was a hard one, with a number of attacks in the final, but I am happy with the team and, especially, with the way Sergei Chernetckii and Nikita Stalnov showed themselves. In general, all riders are in good shape, everything is going by plan, - explained sports director Bruno Cenghialta.
Polish rider Michal Kwiatkowski became the race winner ahead of Tony Gallopin and Bauke Mollema. Sergei Chernetckii is the best Astana Team performer with his 14th place.
