- Indeed, it was a very long and very hot stage. I even can’t say how many bottles I drank today, but, of course, a lot! We tried to do our best to hold the leaders in front, supporting them during the entire stage. There were a few windy places on the distance, so we did everything to protect our leaders. They finished without problem in the peloton, so, the stage was quite good for us, - said Bakhtiyar Kozhatayev.
As it was expected, the stage ended with the massive sprint, won by German rider Marcel Kittel, who outsprinted French champion Arnaud Demare and another German Andre Greipel. Alexey Lutsenko finished 21st.
Both Astana Pro Team leaders, Fabio Aru and Jakob Fuglsang finished in the main group.
There are no changes in the general classification as Chris Froome holds the yellow jersey and Fabio Aru is at the third place (+0.14). Jakob Fuglsang is 15th, +1.33 behind the leader.
Fabio Aru still leads in the mountain classification and holds the polka dot jersey of the best climber.
Tomorrow will be held the 7th stage of the race: it will be another long day in the saddle with 213,5 km from Troyes to Nuits-Saint-Georges.
