- With something 35 km to go there was a big crash in the peloton, which divided the group in few parts. Around 30 riders could get an advantage. We tried to close this gap, but failed. It was too close to the finish. So, it was a bad luck, nothing to do. The good news is nobody of us was involved in the crash. Anyway, race is going on and I am sure we still can get something good here, - said sports director Bruno Cenghialta.
A group of 34 riders went away after a crash and, finally, played the stage victory in sprint, won by Italian Elia Viviani.
Tomorrow will be held the second stage of the race: 199,6 km from Wieselburg to Pöggstall.
