Tour de Suisse. Stage 3. Time splits in a tricky final
The third stage of the Tour de Suisse (159,3 km from Menziken to Bern) with a difficult and tricky final part in Bern provoked time differences in the peloton. The pace of the group inside the final 4 km of the race with the cobbles and short but steep climb was very high. This was the reason, the peloton was split in many parts just before the final 500 meters.

It was not the territory of Astana climbers Miguel Angel Lopez and Pello Bilbao. But, they were able to minimize the loses finishing with 26 seconds behind the winner, Australian rider Michael Matthews.
- The final was fast, it suited the classic riders, not light climbers like me. I just tried to do my best to be as high as possible and, I think, I lost not so much time. So, that’s ok. It general it was a calm day, but with some dangerous moments. In a moment of the race a rider touched me and I crashed out. Hopefully, I did not get any serious because I fell on the grass. But, anyway, it was an unpleasant situation. All the main things in this race starts tomorrow. We will see, how it will be, - explained Miguel Angel Lopez.
Michael Matthews became the new overall leader of the Tour de Suisse.
Tomorrow will be held the first mountain stage of the race: 143,2 km from Bern to Villars-sur-Ollon with two climbs, including the final one.
