Astana’s Oscar Gatto did a good race and finished 9th in the bunch sprint, which decided today’s race won by Italian Sacha Modolo.
Also, Matti Breschel and Dmitriy Gruzdev were close to leaders with 15th and 30th positions, respectively.
For young Miguel Angel Lopez, the 2016 Tour de Suisse winner, it was the very first race of the 2017 season after his recovering from the injury.
- First of all, it was like a warm-up race before the Tour de Suisse, and I can say our team did it pretty well. We wanted to help Oscar Gatto to get a good result, and also Matti Breschel was ready for something more. But, honestly, the circuit was not hard enough to make the difference. Sprinter’s teams controlled the situation and there was not any relief to get some space in attack. So, everything ended with the bunch sprint, where Oscar took 9th place. Also Dmitriy Gruzdev was strong today launching an attack with 10 km to go. But the peloton was pretty fast today as too many sprinters were in the group. For Miguel Angel Lopez it was his first race and he did it very good, staying in front without any problem. I think, we are ready for the Tour de Suisse since we will have a strong team, - explaned sports director Dmitri Sedoun.
