- The second stage of Tour of California was as hard as we expected. Race was controlled by the big GC contenders. In our team here we don't have any climbers, riders for GC, so today we were trying to pass through the stage the best way possible. Many of our riders are here after a long brake and have to find the rhythm again. So it is a kind of training race for our team, - commented sports director Lars Michaelsen after the finish.
It is also the first participation of Kazakh team Astana at the race in the US and the first time in America for some of the riders.
- I'm still suffering with jet lag, it is not so easy to recover, but I'm getting better and better step-by-step. As for the race - the roads here are very very big, and whether is very good. So, for sure, I like this race, - said Belgian rider Laurens De Vreese first time riding race in America.
Tomorrow will be the flat stage with start in Pismo Beach and finish in Morro Bay with expected bunch sprint at the finish.
