For young Kazakh rider Zhandos Bizhigitoin these races in Belgium are debut in his recent started neo-pro career. It is all about experience for him in the classics. Last Sunday Bizhigitov has debuted in the Tour of Flanders, while today he did his first kilometers in the Scheldeprijs.
- I like Belgian races so much! Indeed, these races are tough, first of all from technical point of view. You need to gain experience to be competitive here. We can say, I am working on my future, I hope the experience I am getting here will help me in my career. I would like to learn how to ride these classics races in Belgium. I really liked at the Tour of Flanders. I was not able to finish it, but at least I could see what is it. I hope to come back for the Flanders in the next years to show myself, because I feel like this race suits me well. Today’s Scheldeprijs was not easy at all. It was a long and fast race for the sprinters. As well as in other classics, it is all about experience here. This Sunday I will represent Astana colors at the Paris – Roubaix. This is a legendary classic race and I am proud to ride it with Astana. I hope to do my best for the team’s result, - said Zhandos Bizhigitov.
The winner of the Scheldeprijs 2017 became Marcel Kittel, who won the sprint ahead of Elia Viviani and Nacer Bouhanni. Dmitriy Gruzdev was the best Astana rider with 23rd position.
On April 9th, Astana Proteam will continue its classic campaign with another monument Paris – Roubaix.
