Gent-Wevelgem. The race of crashes and attacks
Today in Belgium has been held the famous classic race of the UCI WorldTour Gent-Wevelgem in Flanders Fields. The race was characterized by a lot of crashes and attacks during all the distance.

The winner of the race became Belgian rider Greg Van Avermaet, who also won the E3 Harelbeke two days ago. He outsprinted his compatriot Jens Keukeleire. The current World Champion Peter Sagan finished third.
Two Astana Proteam riders, Michael Valgren and Andriy Grivko finished in the main group 6 seconds after the winner.
- Honestly, we have started this Gent-Wevelgem not with full power because of a few crashes earlier at the E3 Harelbeke. Oscar Gatto crashed badly on Friday and did not recover well after it. So, he had to quit the race quite quickly. Also, Alexey Lutsenko had some pain in the muscles after his crash at the E3 Harelbeke. He was able to do almost 160 km, but anyway it was impossible for him to be competitive today. Matti Breschel felt the consequences of the crash as well. So, that was the situation for us today, but anyway with other riders, especially with Michael Valgren and Andriy Grivko we tried to do our best. Anyway, I can say we have spent a nice week here in Belgium with a podium of Alexey Lutsenko at the Dwars door Vlaanderen and a good 6th place of Michael Valgren at the E3 Harelbeke. Now, we have to believe it was a good investment for the Tour of Flanders and the Paris-Roubaix, - said sports director Lars Michaelsen.
