The race victory was played by the leading group of 5 riders, where the World Champion Peter Sagan was the strongest.
The best Astana Proteam rider in this race became Laurens De Vreese, who finished 36th.
- We wanted to get a good result here, but not everything went by plan and we missed some good luck. To the last 80 km in the leading peloton we had Michael Valgren and Laurens De Vreese as well as Matti Breschel supported by Ruslan Tleubayev, who did a very good job today. Until the final kilometer Matti had a chance to fight for a place in Top-10, but due to a technical problem was not able to sprint. Oscar Gatto did a strong, but exhausting race yesterday. So, today he helped in team’s strategy, and after he was forced to stop, because he missed some freshness. He is still on the way to his 100%, his main goals are lying further ahead. The way he did yesterday’s race proves Oscar is on the right path, - said sports director Lars Michaelsen.
