The Astana Pro Team’s first race of the 2017 has been ridden today in Adelaide, Australia. The People’s Choice Classic is a race on the Adelaide circuit that measures 50.6 km only and that is the preview of the Tour Down Under, starting in two days.
The sport director of the Astana Pro Team in Australia is the Italian Stefano Zanini: “I like this week of race in Australia and I like the Tour Down Under – commented Zanini – because I think this summer weather is a good way to start a racing year…”.
“Today in the People’s Choice Classic we had a very good team composed by some veterans of Astana Pro Team, as Tiralongo, De Vreese and Sanchez (who won the Tour Down Under in 2005) and many new riders as Valgren, Gatto and Zakharov… Matti Breschel has suffered in the past days of some lines of fever and we preferred him rest and have him fully recovered for the start of the Tour Down Under on next Tuesday” concluded the Italian Sport Director.
