“I’m in a very good shape, increasing day by day, and I’ve tried to win today stage – commented Fabio Aru after the finish – we did an high rythm and I attacked few times, then on the Vico climb, I knew it since I was Under23, I’ve tried to leave behind me the other attackers but honestly Bennati was super strong and catched me on the last descent to Montecatini Terme”.
“Tomorrow there will be the second stage of this Giro della Toscana that, on the map, should be easier than today’s one but never say ever – continued the Italian climber of the Astana Pro Team – let’s see what kind of race will come out and let’s look confident for the next races.”
After a long attack, today’s first stage of the new Giro della Toscana has been decided on the last hills close to the finish line on Montecatini Terme. The winner has been the Italian Giovanni Visconti who has beaten the other italians Sonny Colbrelli, Daniele Bennati and our captain Fabio Aru.
Tomorrow, second stage from Montecatini Terme to Pontedera (185.300 km) with the Monte Serra in the first part of the stage and some small hills in the final. The fastest riders should be the favourites.
