Unfortunately, there were several crashes on the last part of the distance, including a big crash with 1 km to go, which impacted a lot the result of the stage.
Astana Pro Team rider Alex Aranburu found himself a bit blocked in the group due to the crash; he managed to pass it through to try to get as high place as possible and finally, took a 11th position.
- We wanted to try something with Alex in the final, but, of course, with so many pure sprinters in the bunch it is not so easy. Also, in the crash inside the last kilometer he was boxed in and lost some time, spending energy to jump back in front. Anyway, Alex did a good sprint, he was close, but it did not work out. I think that Aranburu is in a good form and he can show it in the next races. Tomorrow is the last day, another big climb, we are motivated to do a good race, - said Stefano Zanini.
The Irish Champion Sam Bennett took the stage win, making his solo attack with 900 meters to go on the last uphill of the day.
There are no important changes in the general classification of the Vuelta a Burgos after this stage 4: Remco Evenepoel still leads the race, while Oscar Rodriguez is 13th.
The final, 5th stage will be held tomorrow: it will be another day in the mountains with the final climb Lagunas de Neila in the menu.
