In the final stage of the Deutschland Tour, Magnus Cort won the King of the Mountains classification, being part of the early breakaway. In the end, Alexey Lutsenko lost his third place overall to Yves Lampaert. The Kazakh champion first won the final bonus sprint, but Lampaert finished second on the stage, finishing three seconds in front of Lutsenko in the general classification. Sonny Colbrelli won the sprint of a reduced peloton, taking the second place overall. Jasper Stuyven successfully defended his overall lead and is the winner of the 2019 Deutschland Tour.
- Our goal was to go for a stage victory from the breakaway, but the peloton wouldn’t let us go. For me, the next goal was to take as many KOM points on the climbs to try to win the mountain jersey. After the final climb, I was equal in points with Vincenzo Nibali, but then I heard I won the jersey because I took maximum points on two climbs, Nibali on just one climb yesterday. It’s nice to finish this race like this, I’m happy to win this jersey, - said Magnus Cort
- Too bad I lost my GC podium today, but I tried everything I could, so there’s not much to say about it. I’m happy the way I felt in this race, as it’s the preparation for the final part of the season. I thought I secured the third place on the podium with the bonus sprint in the final, but in the sprint for the stage win, I was not able to outsprint Lampaert, finishing just behind him. It’s like that, I can still look back on a good race with the team, - said Alexey Lutsenko
