Euroeyes Cyclassics Pro 2016
Hamburg, Germany

“I’ve attacked on the last climb of the Bergwertung – explained Maxat Ayazbayev after the finish – in the front part of the bunch many riders were doing tactics so I decided to try… unfortunately the gap I’ve accumulated in the last part of the hill wasn’t enough to escape but I’m satisified I was at only 15 km to the finish with very good legs.”
Today 21st edition of the Euroeyes Cyclassics Pro has been a great show with start and finish in the city of Hamburg, in the North of Germany.
Traditionally this is a race very suitable for sprinters and today there was no exception on this: in fact the winner of this 2016 edition has been the Australian Caleb Ewan, who was second behind the French Nacer Bohuanni disqualified for irregularities in the final sprint.
The Astana Pro Team had at the start the Italian sprinter Andrea Guardini who unfortunately suffered in the penultimate climb to the Bergwertung and was not able to fight for the victory.
Very good performances arrived from the Kazakhs riders: Maxat Ayazbayev, who attacked on the last climb at 15 km to the finish, and Ruslan Tleubayev who finished 13rd in the final sprint, despite the chaos in the last 2 kms caused by some falls in the final.
