- I felt very strong and I did everything I could to win today. In the end, Julian Alaphilippe was able to hang on and to counter-attack in the final kilometer. Of course I would’ve liked to win this race, but I can be satisfied with the way I raced. The team was strong today and because of this I ended up in a select group together with Alexey Lutsenko. I knew I had to try to force something, so I attacked and only Alaphilippe and Van Aert were able to follow. It would’ve been in my favor if they chased us a bit more, because now Alaphilippe was not pulling and was able to save some energy for the final. But I did everything I could today so I should be happy with this second place. I’m sure with these legs I will be able to get that first place on the podium in one of my next races, - said Jakob Fuglsang.
- It was a good race for us, together with Jakob Fuglsang we were the two leaders of the team in this race and the team worked really well to support us. Yesterday we did a recon of the last 50 kilometers because we knew it could be the decisive part of the race. It was like we planned, a group of 10-15 riders went away on that part and we were there with Jakob. When Jakob attacked and went clear with Alaphilippe and Van Aert, I remained in the group to control the rivals and not to allow them to bring Jakob's group back. The situation in the race was perfect for us, so I just had to stay behind in the group, controlling the possible counterattacks. Jakob missed just a little to win it, but it's still a good result for us. When our group started on the final climb to the finish, I tried to take a place in the top 10 and I succeed in this. It was important for me because once I want to come back to this race for a better result. Today it's the seventh place for me, but I hope for a podium next time, - said Alexey Lutsenko.
