The last stage of the Tour de France, traditionally concluded on the Champs Elysèes has been a show for the sprinters, won by the German, Andrè Greipel.
Our young champion Alexey Lutsenko demonstrated to end his Tour de France in a great athletic condition, attacking with the Belgian Greg Van Avermaet not far from the finish line.
The Tour de France 2016 has been won by the British, Christopher Froome, on the French Romain Bardet and the Colombian, Nairo Quintana, respectively.
Our captain Fabio Aru, after a three weeks race in the best ten of the GC, unfortunately suffered of a bad day on Saturday 23rd last mountain's stage to Morzine and he ended in 13th position.
We made a point of the situation with the Team Manager, Alexandr Vinokourov: “I think that Astana Pro Team did a good Tour de France with Fabio Aru as captain and Vincenzo Nibali helping him – commented the Kazakh – a part from the last mountain stage, where Fabio suffered simply of a bad day, he demonstrated to the world that he can fight for the Tour final victory in the future. I’m sure we will be back soon with him on this purpose. I would like to thank even all our other riders, Lutsenko, Tiralongo, Kangert, Fuglsang, Rosa, Sanchez and Grivko for their great work along the three weeks race. A special thanks goes also to all the sport directors and to the entire staff.”
