From the very start of the stage there were a lot of attacks and the wind, but the riders of the Astana team always controlled the race, not allowing the dangerous breakaways to go.
After passing of the first intermediate sprint, the breakaway of the day was formed of 5 riders, who were finally caught up at 6 km before the finish.
The stage ended with the expected massive sprint, won by the Colombian racer Alvaro Jose Hodeg.
Thus, Alexey Lutsenko retains leadership in the overall standings of the race before the final stage tomorrow.
- Today was a nervous day, up to 30 km we did not let go the breakaway, it was a lot of attacks before first intermediate sprint, where bonus seconds were given. After that, a group of five people escaped, we let them go for 2-2.5 minutes and always kept this time. At the finish we had a massive sprint, it was a bit nervous, there was a strong wind and there were moments where we got a little stress. Tomorrow is the last day of the race and we will try to defend the leader’s jersey. Tomorrow will be tomorrow, - commented Alexey Lutsenko.
