“It’s a good result and I’m happy about it… but there are still two difficult stages to ride, tomorrow and Saturday, and I will give my best until the end!” announced Fabio Aru after finishing 3rd on today individual time trial.
“I knew this could have been a very important stage and this is why I came two months ago to try the race route – explained the captain of the Astana Pro Team – now I am closer to the podium and to the guys who anticipate me on the GC and me and my team we will try in any possible way to regain positions.”
Today individual time trial was characterized by a difficult climb to Cote de Domancy: the British Christopher Froome has won the stage and reinforced his leadership in the GC.
Our captain Fabio Aru has risen one position in the GC, from 8th to 7th, and above all he has regained important seconds on the rivals who are still before him.
Tomorrow, 19th stage from Albertville to Saint-Gervais Mont Blanc (146 km), with four difficult climbs and the uphill final.
