In April 2015, the UCI License Commission decided to stay the proceedings initiated at UCI’s request in order for Astana ProTeam to implement several organisational measures under the supervision of the Institute of Sports Studies of the University of Lausanne (ISSUL).
As stated by the UCI License Commission in its decision of October 2015, the team improved its structures and its organisation with regard to the riders’ training programmes, their follow-up, the team’s management and the medical monitoring. The team also set up a computerised platform aiming at improving communication between its members.
ISSUL finalised its audit by stating that, based on its observations, “it seems possible that if the Astana ProTeam manages to implement the structures which seems to be in place, she would be in compliance with the UCI organisational specifications which will be, as of 2017, a criteria for the team’s registration”.
The License Commission finally stated that it was now up to UCI to assess Astana ProTeam’s compliance with regulatory requirements in view of the team’s registration for the 2016 season.
