- It was a very fast race with a high pace during the whole day. At the final, we were working for Yevgeniy Gidich, but due to a crash before the finish, our guys were isolated. For the EuroEyes Cyclassics Hamburg, the riders had to race 216.4 kilometer around the German city of Hamburg. After the day’s breakaway of five riders was caught, it was a group of twelve riders who tried to surprise the sprint teams on the final climb of the day. Among them, our Kazakh champion Alexey Lutsenko. But directly after the final climb, the sprint teams organized again and caught the small group.
In the preparation for the sprint, there was a crash, with our sprinter Yevgeniy Gidich caught behind it. It was Ruslan Tleubayev who sprinted instead of Gidich, finishing 13th in the field of strong sprinters. Elia Viviani won the race, the Italian champion was the fastest sprinter of the day.
