Astana Pro Team tried to do this stage aggressively with two riders, Alexey Lutsenko and Sergei Chernetskii making pressure on the rivals. Lutsenko was one who attacked from a leading group with a few kilometers to go, while Chernetskii was always in front side by side with the other GC riders, trying to finish as high as possible.
Finally, Sergei Chernetskii finished 6th in the same group with the stage winner, the Austrian rider Georg Preidler.
- It was a very difficult stage, but the team was super strong today! In the final I felt quite good, tried always to stay in front and to control my rivals. Yeah, my legs worked well, but, I felt like I was on the limit after a very fast and intense day. Alexey did a strong attack in the final, while I tried my best to follow the others. Tomorrow is the last day, so for sure I will give my all to finish this race as high as possible, - said Sergei Chernetskii.
In the general classification of the Tour de Pologne Michal Kwiatkowski still leads the race, while Sergei Chernetskii is 5th, 28 seconds behind the leader and just 4 seconds far from the podium.
Astana moved up into the lead in the team’s classification of the Tour de Pologne.
The final stage 7 of the race will be held tomorrow: it will be another challenging stage of 136 km around Bukowina Tatrzanska with 6 categorized climbs and a summit finish.
