Young talent of Astana Pro Team Evgeniy Gidich spent all stage in the breakaway, which earned maximum advantage of 4 minutes, but was broke up at the final climb. Kazakh rider was caught at 4 km to the finish.
- At the first climb when the group of around 12 riders escaped, I felt that I have a good leg and joined them. The goal was to try to fight for the stage or to help our guys at the final in case of any attacks. But the whether today was not very good, it rained during the whole day, and at the descent all of us started to feel cold. I spent this day working at the front, at the final climb tried to stay with leaders, but I already didn’t have enough power for the finish. At 4 km to go I saw Dario Cataldo and tried to help him a little bit, to get him closer to the leaders. At 2 km to go he passed me and I started to work on my own pace. My condition is growing day by day, I want to try myself also at the sprint on the final stage and I will do maximum to help our guys at the upcoming days, - said Evgeniy Gidich after the finish.
The solo victory at the queen stage celebrated Dutch rider Pieter Weening. The stage didn’t made any serious changes in the GC of the race, lead by Belgium rider Ben Hermans. Dario Cataldo is still 3rd, 48 seconds behind the leader.
