- It was not easy day, with 170 km always up and down, there was no flat section. It was hard for all of us. With 35 km to go we tried to set a hard pace to create a select group, but we couldn’t drop the main sprinters. The guys did a great job during the whole stage, Luis Leon Sanchez was with me to help me at the final sprint, but I hadn’t enough power for the finish. Finally, I was 8th. Tomorrow is a very important stage, which will be decisive for the GC.– Yevgeniy Gidich.
A 173-kilometer-long stage from St. Gaudens to Masseube Val-de-Gers, with again a breakaway that was not able to make it to the finish line because of the strong work of Astana Pro Team, chasing the break. Luis Leon Sanchez was the lead-out for Yevgeniy Gidich, but he was not able to sprint for the podium.
Tomorrow, the riders will face a mountain stage of almost 200 kilometers, from Prat-Bonrepaux to Les Monts d'Olmes. Five categorized climbs with a finish on top of a climb of the first category.
