- This is not a bad result for me, so I’m happy with this fifth place. Yesterday I did everything I could to get on the overall podium and today again I tried to do something with an attack, but Jens Keukeleire and his team were just too strong these days. I think we can look back to a good Baloise Belgium Tour,- told Andriy Grivko.
The final day of the Baloise Belgium Tour, with Andriy Grivko sixth overall and with sprinters Magnus Cort and Riccardo Minali with the chance for a stage win. A very hot day, with the start in Landen and the finish in Tongeren after a 157,7 kilometers. The day’s breakaway was a group of five Belgian riders that were able to stay clear until the final 20 kilometers. But just before they would been caught, Andriy Grivko launched a counter attack to battle for the GC podium.
But going into the final lap, Grivko got caught by the peloton and the teams prepared for a bunch sprint in the streets of Tongeren. Magnus Cort and Riccardo Minali got boxed in after the final roundabout and missed the final sprint, that was won by Bryan Coquard. Riccardo Minali finished tenth, Magnus Cort thirteenth. Andriy Grivko climbed to the fifth place in the GC behind winner Jens Keukeleire.
