- I felt good today, and now I know I became second with just 5 seconds, I realize maybe I should’ve gone deeper during the ITT. But I’m still satisfied with this result and the place I now have in the general classification. Tomorrow will be a hard and open race, and I’m looking forward to the battle for the GC ,- told Andriy Grivko.
On forehand, Andriy Grivko was already a favorite for today’s ITT in the streets of Bornem, because of the length of 10 kilometers and the technical corners. And with his finish in a time of 12’43” he showed that he was strong, as he set up a new best time. While Grivko waited in the Hot Seat for his rivals, it was only Christian Laporte who could beat the time of the Ukrainian rider of Astana Pro Team, as he was 5 seconds faster as Grivko.
André Greipel was not able to keep the lead in the GC, as he’s now on a second place in the GC, 4 seconds behind Laporte. Grivko is third, only 5 seconds behind the new overall leader.
Tomorrow the peloton at the Baloise Belgium Tour will conquer the hardest day of this stage race, with 12 climbs (among them, two times Mur de Huy) at the 151.4 kilometer long stage 4.
