Miguel Angel, the Giro d’Italia starts tomorrow, how do you feel?
- Looks like everything is ok. I feel good, everything is going by plan.
After the successful Tour of the Alps you have spent a week at the training camp in Sestriere. How it was there?
- After the Tour of the Alps I remained in Italy and went to Sestriere together with Andrey Zeits and Jan Hirt. We spent a good week in the mountains. We did a recon of one of the stages at the final week of the Giro d'italia, we trained calmly and recovered well after an active race in Trentino, where we won three stages. I think that this short training camp helped me to approach the start of the Giro in a good form.
Tomorrow you will start your debut Giro d’Italia. Are you ready?
- Indeed, this will be my first Giro and I am happy I have a chance to take part in this famous race. I come to it in a good form, without stress and nerves. Talking about the trainings, everything went according to the plan, together with the team we performed the whole amount of work, so I think I'm ready. Of course, I want to perform here as good as possible, want to achieve the best result, but right now I don’t want to think far ahead. Day by day I will live this race, will fight, will give 100%, and in the final we will see what we can achieve.
Astana brought a solid roster here at the Giro. What do you think about the team?
- In my opinion, we have a very strong team. At the Tour of the Alps we showed that we are well prepared for the Giro. There was almost the whole team that came here to Israel, and we achieved good results in that race. Now, Alexey Lutsenko and Tanel Kangert, who are also perfectly ready, have joined us. So, Astana Pro Team is set to prove itself from the best side.
