- Honestly, I did not understand what happened in that corner. We were placed really well with Riccardo Minali with 500 meters to go, but something happened in this corner and we both crashed down. I think we could have done a good result today, but, this kind of things just happens in cycling. So, we were lucky and everything is ok with us, nothing serious after the crash. The stage was a bit nervous and I did not felt great because of yesterday’s effort. But I’m looking forward for tomorrow and I think I will be ok,- told Yevgeniy Gidich.
An early breakaway was formed when the peloton left Starigrad for today’s 171-km-long stage. Zhandos Bizhigitov made it into this breakaway, but was not able to follow Alessandro Tonelli who left the whole group at the only serious climb of the day. Tonelli was able to stay in front of the chasing peloton, but behind him there was a race going on for the other places on the stage podium. Riccardo Minali and Yevgeniy Gidich, leading the peloton, went down in the final turn at 500 meters of the finish. Both riders are ok, but were not able to have a close finish behind Tonelli.
- Today I felt very good, my condition is perfect and my legs are good. But today we crashed with only 500 meters to go. If we didn’t crashed we would have finished second and third for sure, because we are in optimal condition. We have another sprint chance in the final stage, but now we first see what happens tomorrow as Yevgeniy Gidich is one of the favorites for the win, I think. Today was a bad day, but tomorrow is another day and another race, - told Riccardo Minali.
