Astana Pro Team tried to do a good race and, finally, finished with 14th best time, losing 53 seconds to BMC Racing Team, the winner of the first stage.
- It was not a bad TTT for us, we did it quite good, the team looked well on the road. Maybe, we missed some power on the distance. We expected to lose less to the leaders, but, in general, the time is not so bad. We were more or less at the same level with many other GC contenders. We hope to improve in the next stages, when the race will come to the mountains, - said sports director Alexandr Shefer.
Second place at stage 1 took team Mitchelton-Scott, which lost 4 seconds to the winner. The daily podium was completed by Team Sky, 10 seconds behind.
Stage 2 of the Tirreno-Adriatico will be held tomorrow: 167 km from Camaiore to Follonica. It will be a flat stage for the sprinters.
