- Of course, it is nice to win the medals for your country. So, from this point I am happy, because for me it is always a big honor to represent Kzakahstan and to get results for my country. From another point of view, I would like to reach even more here at the Asian Championships. I felt quite good before coming in Malaysia and my goal was to fight for a gold medal in the Omnium, individual pursuit and Madison. But, in the first days of the Championships I’ve got some fever and it impacted my results. Anyway, two medals – is a good moment for me. I can say that the general level of track cycling in Asia has increased a lot and with the results shown here in Malaysia a rider could win the races at the World Cups, - said Artyom Zakharov.
After the Asian Track Championships Artyom will be back on the road to continue his season with Astana Pro Team, while at the end of the year he is planning to begin his way towards the next Olympic Games in Tokyo.
- I return at home and in free weeks will come back on racing at the Le Tour de Langkawi and Tour of Croatia. In the same time, next autumn I will come back on track and it will be a busy time for me – I am going to do all World Cups to start my qualification way to the Olympics, - explained Artyom Zakharov.
