With around 18 km to go a group of 6 riders went away from the peloton to play the stage and the GC victory in this race.
Thus, it was the French rider Jonathan Hivert, who won the stage and the final general classification of the Tour du Haut Van Matin. Second and third places both, at the stage and in the overall took Alexis Vuillermoz and Rudy Molard, respectively.
Astana’s Andriy Grivko, who was very active during the stage and launched a few attacks in the final part of the distance, finished 16th at the stage and took a nice 10th place in the overall classification of the race. Another Astana Team rider Hugo Houle is 15th in the GC.
- We have spent a nice day today in France with some sunshine and +160C. Our team was focused on two riders – Andriy Grivko and Hugo Houle, who finished in the Top-20 yesterday. With around 60 km to go our riders, Truls Korsaeth, Daniil Fominykh and Zhandos Bizhigitov went into action in front of the group and put some pressure on the climb, reducing a part of the gap to the daily breakaway. With 22 km to go on the last climb Grivko attacked together with three more riders, but this attack was neutralized and just in the next moment a new attack of 6 riders became the decisive moment of the race. In the final, we have a Top-10 place in the GC, but, the most important is our riders have started their season and put some important racing kilometers in the legs, - explained sports director Lars Michaelsen.
