- The day was very tough because of the profile and the rain and cold. When a break went away, we helped in controlling the race. Ruslan Tleubayev did a very good job, representing Astana in front of the peloton. Later, our riders Andriy Grivko and Hugo Houle were very active and tried to attack for several times, but it was practically impossible to get a good advantage. A big selection was made at the last climb of the distance with more or less 10 km to go. And we still had Grivko and Houle in the leading group of 20-25 riders. So, finally, we came for a sprint and Andriy did 8th, - explained sports director Lars Michaelsen.
The French rider Jonathan Hivert won the uphill sprint in Fayence ahead of Nicola Bagioli and Samuel Dumolin.
Tomorrow will be held the second and the last stage of the race: 188,8 km from Vidauban to Flayosc.
