Moreno Moser: This victory is important for me
A few days ago, on Sunday, Moreno Moser won the famous Italian semi-classic race Trofeo Laigueglia. It was a beautiful victory after a powerful attack on the last climb of the day. Moreno Moser talks about this win.

Moreno, what is this victory for you?
Moreno Moser: “For sure, this victory is very important for me. It came after around three years, the last one was in 2015. So, I am really happy. The last year was a tough one, because I had some health problems, which stopped me more or less for the whole season. This is why it is really nice for me to start 2018 season with a win, almost immediately, after only two races”.
“Honestly, I did not expect to win on Sunday. Actually, I knew I am in a good shape, but thought, that was not enough to win already now. Even the Trofeo Laigueglia is not a super big race, this is still an important achievement for me, for my moral and motivation”.
“For sure, this is just a beginning. We are at the start of the season and I still have a lot to do to improve and to prepare myself for the biggest goals of the year”.
After all health problems of the last year, how hard was for you to come back to this high level of cycling?
Moreno Moser: “Of course, it is always difficult for a professional rider to feel bad during the season not having any idea, what is going on, what is the reason of it. It is hard to train and to believe that in a day you will win again. Honestly, in some moments I was almost losing the hope and was not sure, I will pass through it”.
“Last October I stopped my season, we decided, that’s enough for that moment, enough to suffer. Together with the team we decided to leave behind that year and to start thinking about the future. I took my time during a month and in November I’ve started working hard and now I am here. I am very happy with this feeling to be up here on the winning way”.
“Now, I am looking forward to my next race here at the Ruta del Sol. We have a strong team in Andalucia with two GC leaders – Luis Leon Sanchez and Jakob Fuglsang. But, if I have an opportunity during these days, I will try to catch it”.
