Tour of Guangxi. Stage 5. The longest stage of the race finishes in Guilin

The longest stage of the Tour of Guangxi has finished today in the city of Guilin (212,2 km). Despite a hilly profile of the race and three climbs in a row at the final part of the distance, everything ended with a massive sprint.

Dutch rider Dylan Groenewegen won today’s sprint ahead of Fernando Gaviria and Magnus Cort Nielsen. Kazakhstan champion Artyom Zakharov finished 29th.

- During the first two hours there was a real war in the front of the peloton: a lot of attacks to go in a break. Our riders also were very active, but since the time differences in the GC are really small, the peloton controlled everything perfectly. In the final, we tried to do something at the last climb: Jakob Fuglsang was among the riders, who attacked, but honestly, the route was not as hard as it was written on the paper. So, everything ended with the bunch sprint, - explained sports manager Dmitriy Fofonov.

On the descent from the last climb Astana rider Bakhtiyar kozhatayev fell down, but, fortunately, he escaped with the minor injures.

The lead in the overall classification still holds Tim Wellens. Jakob Fuglsang is 29th, +1.39.

Tomorrow, will be held the 6th and the last stage of the Tour of Guangxi: 168 km around city of Guilin.
