- During the stage there were a lot of attacks, but all the time we were in front and our team did everything to control the situation. Later, a good break went away together with Bakhtiyar Kozhatayev, Daniil Fominykh and Dmitriy Gruzdev. With a few laps to go, I’ve made an attack from the peloton to bridge to the break. We were able to organize a good work inside our group to get a comfortable advantage over the main pack. Everything was ok, but closer to the finish the peloton started to come back. So, with 20 km to go I saw a right moment for the decisive attack and I succeed. I want to thank my team for a great day, our guys did an amazing job! I am really happy with the victory and with the way we spend this stage. Tomorrow will be a hard day with a tough final. Let’s see, what will happen, - said Alexey Lutsenko, the triple winner of the Tour of Almaty.
At the finish at Almaty Arena Lutsenko won 19 seconds to French rider Remy Di Gregorio, who finished second. Two seconds later Mirsamad Pourseyedi won the sprint for third place ahead of Bakhtiyar Kozhatayev.
Thus, Alexey Lutsenko became the first leader of the general classification, while Daniil Fominykh took the lead in the mountain classification.
Tomorrow will be held the second and the last stage of the race: 160,5 km from Halyk Arena to Medeu.
