The Norwegian race organized by Aso, started today in front of the sea in Engenes (Andørja) to end in Narvik, after 156.5 km of race with some hills included, the last of which (the Skitua Summit) ended and 5 km only to the finish line.
The weather has met the expectations with rain and quite low temperatures, considering the period of the year, caused an important selection in the peloton.
At 10 km to go, before the first passage on the finish line, it was our Artyom Zakharov to attack from the front of the bunch. The high speed of the final of the race didn’t allow him to gain a considerable gap and he was regained from the bunch at 7 km to go, on the hilly final circuit.
In the meanwhile the Norwegian of the Astana Pro Team, Truls Korsæth was a long at the front.
Then in the last km there has been several attacks on one of which our Andrei Grivko was brilliant but unfortunately couldn’t answer to decisive attack.
Nonetheless, Grivko was the first rider of the Astana Pro Team to cross the finish line, 16th at 6 secs from the winner.
The victory of today stage has gone to the Belgian Dylan Teuns who has conquered also the Leader Jersey of the General Classification.
Tomorrow, the second stage from Sjøvegan to Bardufoss Airport, 184.5 km with some hills in the first part of the race but with a final very suitable to the sprinters.
