“I’ve tried to attack far away from the finish line while climbing the Col de La Madeleine: firstly together with Contador and Rodriguez, later with my team mate Luis Leon Sanchez”explained Aru.
“When we joined the bunch of the escapers we did some kilometers very regular and the gap on the Leader’s group was increasing – continued the Italian of the Astana Pro Team –then we they understood they could gain the leadership on the GC with Bardet, the AG2R guys have imprinted an high speed forcing on the Montée de Frasses climb and, in reason of the fact that I’m still working on my racing rythm, I missed something to stay on their wheels…”.
“I have to say it is ok so, I did another important step on my training and I have also enjoyed attacking on these beautiful mountains” concluded Aru.
Today's stage has been won by the French, Thibaut Pinot, while the British Christopher Froome kept the Yellow Jersey of the GC Leader.
Tomorrow, seventh and last stage from Le Pont-deClaix to Superdévoluy, 151 km with the difficult Col du Noyer in the last 20 km and the uphill finish.
